Here are the TOP 20 most-played songs on Philippine Radio for August 2013.

It’s a BIG list August is, as six(6) of the major winners at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards are among this month’s hottest on PT20.

Veering away from the “teeny-boppie” image to adulthood by “twerking” at the VMA’s proved to be very effective for Miley Cyrus as she stays at #1 for another month. “We Can’t Stop” remains supreme for the August 2013 report.

Eight(8) new entries make it to the list headed by “Holy Grail”(#2) by the dynamic duo Jay Z and JT who just wrapped up the ‘Legends Of The Summer Stadium Tour’ in the U.S. It may be over for Jay Z but Justin isn’t stopping at all.

After the great success of the first installment “The 20/20 Experience” which includes the hits “Suit & Tie” and “Mirrors”, according to Billboard.com, the album sold 968k copies in its first week, JT is now set to release Part 2 of 2 on September 30(“Take Back The Night” serves as first taste which is already trending on RB106).

A whopping six(6) nominations deserve an amazing performance and Mr. Groovy did not disappoint! JT led the pack at the VMAs with the most nominations and took home VIDEO OF THE YEAR and BEST EDITING for “Mirrors”, BEST DIRECTION for “Suit & Tie”, and of course the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award(see his awesome “15-minute-performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards HERE ).

Next, he’s starring in a movie alongside Ben Affleck in “Runner Runner” which will hit US theaters September 27th. And then start his “20/20 Experience Tour” in October. We’ll definitely hear more of JT in the next couple of years or so be it music, tv, movie, myspace, what have you. It’s a well-deserved attention.

One Direction‘s “Best Song Ever” which won BEST SONG OF SUMMER award debuts at (#4) this month, while Pink(who won BEST COLLABORATION with Nate Ruess for “Just Give Me A Reason”) and Lilly Allen occupy TOP 5 with “True Love”.

New at (#10) is one of the best performances at the awards night, “Roar” by Katy Perry, (#11) belongs to Avril Lavigne‘s “Rock N Roll”, followed by Lana del Rey at (#13) “Summertime Sadness”.

Lady Gaga opened the ceremonies with “Applause” and boos from the audience, had numerous costume changes, and returns on the PT20 with new entry (#15). Finally Macklemore & Ryan Lewis enter at (#18) with “Same Love” which won BEST VIDEO WITH SOCIAL MESSAGE award. They also took home BEST HIP HOP VIDEO and BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY for “Can’t Hold Us” which is (#19) this month on PT20.

Other big names on the list: Robin Thicke, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift(BEST FEMALE VIDEO for “I Knew You Were Trouble), Bruno Mars(BEST MALE VIDEO for “Locked Out Of Heaven” and BEST CHOREOGRAPHY for “Treasure”), Daft Punk, Mika, Ke$ha, Sara Bareilles, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Icona Pop completing the report.
